This project is designed around a magnificent Oak tree that is over 100 years old. This shared experience over the generations of the children, their parents, and their parents have shared shade from, played with, and admired this very same tree. We created a play area that championed this tree with a naturalistic approach, using a largely timber material palette. Different play spaces, outdoor classrooms, raised planter gardens, and a sandpit were all incorporated into this design, creating a space where children can play, learn, grow, and be nurtured.
